Vivas Got Talent

Viva! (Wales) held its first talent night on th 15th December 2011 at Pontypridd & District Club. Children and young people sang, played the keyboard and receited poetry with staff and the management committee also taking part. The mayor of RCT and two Viva! members sat on the judges panel. However, there was no outright winner as they were all excellent. The event was a huge success and we plan on making this an annual event!
The aim of the night was to raise funds for a much needed adapted mini bus to enable staff to transport members to and from activities.
We would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to staff and committee members who gave up their time to support the event, and to parents/carers, and all the artists. Also a BIG THANK YOU goes to all the staff at Pontypridd & District Club for allowing us to use the venue free of charge. A special thank you to Nick who also helped on the night and has also kindly donated money towards the cost of the mini bus.

Viva! (Wales) has been successful in it's application to the
Big Lottery for grant funding over the next 3 years

Viva! Wales has recently secured additional funding from the Big Lottery Fund for a 3 year Transition Project to work with all mainstream secondary schools and special schools within Rhondda Cynon Taff. Our aim is to help, assist and offer support to families and young people, identifying progression routes when leaving school. As part of the Transition Project we are working in partnership with Crossroads Care Cwm Taff. Crossroads are a national organisation formed in 1974 and made up of a network of affiliated schemes. Crossroads takes its name from the famous TV series (yes really). Crossroads is a charity that provides a professional service for carers to enable to have a break from their responsibilities. Viva! Wales has employed a team of key transition outreach workers who will support children and young people during their move from school to adulthood, or alternative educational provision in Rhondda Cynon Taff.
